Hey there.
Just incase you missed my photo dump on instagram I thought I’d drop by and fill you in on the last couple of weeks. I was lucky enough to have just spent 5 days exploring Uluru and many other beautiful land marks with my husband and sister in law.
We saw the sunrise and sunset over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. We did the base walk around Uluru and saw the path which people once used to climb. Who even thought of that??? It was much steeper than I had ever imagined. Just crazy.
We also hiked at Kings Canyon on the Rim walk , Walpa Gorge and Valley of the winds at Kata Tjuṯa . I took loads of photos and let me tell you its pretty hard to take a bad photo out there. We were also lucky enough to experience Wintjiri Wiru light show where we were spoilt with cocktails and canapés on arrival followed by a hamper filled with a selection of gourmet and bush tucker inspired delights. The beer and gin served on this night was also made by Indigenous small businesses. So special and boy was it good stuff.
So why am I sharing all this with you you might ask? Well to be honest its hard to go there and not be totally inspired by the place. If it’s not the beautiful art that has drawn me in its the serious amount of colour. I mean obviously it’s not called the red centre for nothing but beside that the amount of wild flowers out there is amazing. I can see how their Field of Lights display came about by artist Bruce Munro that we saw one night . There are clusters of flowers lining the landscape and popping up unexpectedly at every turn.
Most of my work has been inspired by my immediate surroundings living on the east coast but I feel the pull to incorporate some of this new inspiration into some pieces. Stay tuned to see where this takes me.
